Catalyst for Renewal brought together two of the leading Anglophone experts on synodality, Professor Anna Rowlands and Dr Austen Ivereigh, in a recent Spirituality on the Sofa event.

Synodality, said Anna Rowlands, connected the Church to its deepest Christian memory and embedded listening ‘as a fundamental and permanent act within every basic or local Christian community.’

Austen Ivereigh pointed to the Latin American Church as a ‘laboratory’ for synodality, which was inspired by ‘estilo de Dios‘ — God’s style: ‘humble, peaceful, non-violent, not vengeful, not anxious or controlling, forgiving, generous, calm in adversity.’
