Hopkins is well known for his poetry, its distinctive style and beauty, but not many know that his poetry mirrored, intentionally so, his understanding of the very nature of created being. How it is that each particular, be it ever so small, speaks of a poetry that is inherent in the very constitution of creation. It is for this reason that when his poetry is read aloud it should be vocalized to reproduce the voice that speaks beneath the surface of things, a voice that longs to spring out so as to reach to God from whom all beauty derives.
