Imagine yourself running for your life as a five year old, with your seven year old brother and your mother carrying a nine month old baby! Running for miles from your home in Burundi, across the Tanzanian border to a refugee camp. Spending your entire boyhood from the age of 5 to 17 years in that refugee camp! This was the experience of Fr Erick Niyiragira cp. As a newly arrived refugee and year nine student at Christian Brothers College (Adelaide), Erick Niyiragira had one thing on his mind. He wanted to be a priest. Erick Niyiragira was ordained a Passionist priest on June 1st 2016 and is currently the administrator of St Brigid’s Parish Marrickville.
