The Eyes and Ears of C onscience
presented by Tom Ryan SM
To be held on Wednesdays 1st ,8th, 15th February 10am-12noon
total cost $90 including complimentary book of same name
The basis of this 3-week seminar is the book of the same name (each participant will receive a complimentary copy). The first week will look at
a) how the book came about, the relationship between consciousness and conscience and brief outline of the book itself;
b) one chapter, namely, conscience in relation to sin, failure and hope.
The second week will involve a discussion of one chapter—conscience as hospitality and mercy in the story of Zacchaeus. This will be followed by a case study and discussion on conscience and whistle-blowers (using scriptural parables and a real-life situation).
The third week entails a discussion of two of the book chapters ( on forgiveness; sin and redeeming grace) followed by ideas about where the book stands in relation to current writings about conscience, with particular reference to the Good Samaritan parable.
