Southern (Melbourne) SIP – Lifeboat and Beyond

Why was it necessary, and what is it doing?
  •  23 August 2017
     5:30PM - 7:00PM

Father Kevin Dillon

Kevin has just completed 14 years as Parish Priest of St Mary’s, Geelong, and is now PP at St Simon’s Church at Rowville. Ordaines as a priest of the Archdiocese for 46 years, he still maintains strong links with his three siblings, and meets with them most Sundays at a Glen Waverley cafe. This, he says, keeps him grounded. Kevin’s sense of social justice he attributes to his father, Sir John Dillon, who was Victoria’s first ombudsman.

Kevin believes the years he spent talking to Vietnam War veterans who were suffering post traumatic stress disorder have helped him to recognise and respond to the long-term suffering of survivors of sexual abuse.
