Resetting Cultures Within the Church- Fitzroy SIP

After sending out a notice recently for the Pumphouse Hotel on Wednesday 2nd May, we were advised of a clash in Fr Frank Brennan’s timetable. The only time he could be available for us before he would again be travelling for some time was Wednesday 16th May, but the Pumphouse was already booked for another function then.Accordingly, the event will now be held on Wednesday 16th May at St Carthage’s Church, Parkville

Resetting Cultures Within the Church

It is a common catchcry that there is a need for drastic culture
change within the Church, following the scandal of sexual abuse
revealed by the Royal Commission. What might this mean in
practice, and how might it be achieved?

How do we achieve greater transparency in Church governance?
What is the scope for change in Canon Law? Can clericalism be
broken down? What approach is needed regarding compensation
for survivors of clerical abuse?

Father Frank Brennan SJ, AO will address these and related
questions. He needs little introduction, being the Catholic priest of
the highest public profile in Australia, and among other things being
appointed to the panel of public inquiry into religious freedom here.
