“The Way of the Cross … An Ending, a Beginning”

Throughout his life Jesus showed us how to reject the false self with its egotistical addictions to power, wealth and prestige, and to come steadily and with purpose to the fullness of our humanity. As spiritual beings having a human existence, just like Jesus, we are called to live in both worlds, trusting in God rather than ourselves.   By Jesus’ trust in God to, through and beyond death, he moved from the Jesus of limited place and time to reclaim his identity as the eternal Christ.

So, the Way of the Cross is the last stage of Jesus’ human growth path into divine fullness of life. We can follow this path with sadness but also with joy; it puts into the hands of each of us the key to resurrection.   We can follow this path with sadness but also with joy; it puts into the hands of each of us the key to resurrection.

Brother Barry Donaghue cfc has studied and taught in Australia, Africa, Nth America, Asia & the Pacific Islands.  He has completed primary degrees in arts and teaching, and graduate studies in education, adult religious education, theology and group dynamics, and holds a doctor of ministry degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary in the spiritual formation of people in the groups in which they live and work.

Br. Barry is the emeritus executive director of Spirituality Centres in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and in Terre Haute, Indiana. He is also a certified spiritual director. He is also a labyrinth presenter.
