2025 CATALYST for RENEWAL
Following the Christmas break we started strongly.
A course of lectures by Winton Higgins explored the philosophical, theological and scientific background to ‘Laudato Si’ and had participants examining what we drove, wore and eat.
Southern SIP had a lunch and discussed Tims Winton’s video “Exiles at Home: What our contempt for nature is costing us” while in early March the SIP/SOS committee has three speakers speaking on the work they are doing in response to Laudato Si’. Is Catalyst obsessed with climate change? The committees who organised these three events have no overlap in membership! Not an obsession but members clearly think that we need to pay attention to climate change.
Last Saturday a large group benefited from Fr Michael Whelan’s excellent reflection on the Jesus prayer. He encouraged us to look to Eastern as well as Western Christian traditions in our spiritual lives. During March Fr Michael and Sr Marie Biddle will continue their series of lectures on “Developing your own Spirituality”.
To round out the month, the topic for the Lawson Reflection is “The Art of Listening” and mid-month we have the well know Josephite, Dr Susan Connelly exploring the bishops’ social justice statement with special reference to our northern neighbours.
Come along and bring your friends.
